Ryanair Prime - Terms and Conditions

Ryanair Prime is provided by Ryanair Group, Ryanair Dublin Office, Airside Business Park, Swords, Ireland (hereinafter “Ryanair”) is a subscription based programme aimed at providing benefits to subscribers which include exclusive flight discounts, free reserved seating and travel insurance to enhance the travel experience.

Ryanair Prime is provided by Ryanair Group, Ryanair Dublin Office, Airside Business Park, Swords, Ireland (hereinafter “Ryanair”) is a subscription based programme aimed at providing benefits to subscribers which include exclusive flight discounts, free reserved seating and travel insurance to enhance the travel experience.

These terms and conditions (‘Terms’) apply to the Ryanair Prime programme. Terms and expressions contained in the Ryanair Group General Terms & Conditions of Carriage and Terms of Use of Ryanair’s website continue to apply to Ryanair Prime programme and these Terms shall be read in conjunction with the aforementioned terms. Where there is a conflict between these Terms and the Ryanair Group General Terms & Conditions of Carriage, these Terms shall prevail.

1.1 Definitions
The terms in bold below have the meanings shown wherever they appear in these Terms:

Contract Period: means the 12 months from receipt of payment of the Voucher Fee or a lesser period if terminated by Ryanair in accordance with Section 8.2.

Membership Data: means the name, surname, date of birth and country of residence of the Ryanair Prime Member and any Ryanair Prime Companion. It also includes information related to the number of times flown and free seat allocation used and the Ryanair Prime Member’s email address.

Ryanair Prime Benefits: means the advantages conferred by the Ryanair Prime Programme to its Members and their Ryanair Prime Companions, as enumerated in Section 4.

Ryanair Prime Companion: means a consumer that has been added to the Ryanair Prime Programme by the Ryanair Prime Member so that they can avail of Ryanair Prime Benefits under a single account created by the Ryanair Prime Member in accordance with these Terms.

Ryanair Prime Member (‘Member’): means an individual consumer who has signed up to the Ryanair Prime Programme and paid the Voucher Fee for the relevant Contract Period.

Ryanair Prime Programme (‘Ryanair Prime’): means a subscription programme giving Ryanair Prime Members access to Ryanair Prime Benefits in exchange for a Voucher Fee subject to the limitations as set out in these Terms including Section 4 (Benefits and Limitations). All Ryanair Prime Benefits apply solely to flights booked and operated, during the Contract Period.

Ryanair Prime Voucher: means a multi-purpose voucher as defined in Article 43A (1) of the Irish VAT Act, to be accepted as consideration for a supply of services where the services to be supplied and the identities of their potential suppliers are either indicated on the instrument itself or in related documentation, including these Terms.

Voucher Fee: means the annual price of the Ryanair Prime Voucher. A Voucher Fee will be charged per Member and per Ryanair Prime Companion. For example, where a consumer subscribes to Ryanair Prime and adds a Ryanair Prime Companion, they will pay two Voucher Fees.

Ryanair Prime is limited to a total of 250,000 Members on a first-come, first-served basis. At this time, Ryanair Prime is only offered to people resident in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, UK, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

Only consumers aged 18 years or over who are eligible to fly with Ryanair and hold a valid myRyanair account and who have paid the Voucher Fee can become a Ryanair Prime Member. Members and Ryanair Prime Companions can avail of the Ryanair Prime Benefits of the subscription, subject to the restrictions and limitations set out in more detail in these Terms. Ryanair Prime is only available to consumers for their personal and non-commercial use.

You must hold a myRyanair account to sign-up for Ryanair Prime, as this is a necessary pre-condition for all customers to make a booking on Ryanair.com. Each passenger's myRyanair account will be updated to show their Ryanair Prime Member status.

The discounted fares for Ryanair Prime Members and Ryanair Prime Companions cannot be used with any other special sales and offers offered by Ryanair.

Limited eligibility for travel insurance (“Insurance Restrictions”): Due to limitations that apply to insurance coverage, passengers in the European Union who are aged 70 years or over (including those who turn 70 years old during the Contract Period) will not be eligible for medical protection under the travel insurance cover provided under  Ryanair Prime, but they will still be able to benefit from the other aspects of the insurance coverage. More information on the Insurance Restrictions is contained in Section 4(C) of these Terms. Due to limitations that may apply to travel insurance coverage, passengers residing in the following countries will not be able to sign up for Ryanair Prime:

  • Albania
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Israel
  • Jordan
  • Luxembourg
  • Montenegro
  • Morocco
  • Serbia
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey

Consumers can subscribe to Ryanair Prime by entering their details in the sign-up form on the Ryanair website, accepting these Terms and paying the Voucher Fee. During sign up, Ryanair Prime Members have the option to add one Ryanair Prime Companion to Ryanair Prime for an additional Voucher Fee which will allow the Member and the Ryanair Prime Companion to avail of Ryanair Prime Benefits in accordance with these Terms. The initial Voucher Fee(s) are payable through the sign-up form on the Ryanair website. The Ryanair Prime Benefits will be accessible solely during the Contract Period.

The personal details for the Ryanair Prime Member will be prepopulated from the Member’s myRyanair account. Personal details of a Ryanair Prime Companion can also be prepopulated from the Member’s account if the passenger was previously included as a Travel Companion in the Member’s myRyanair account. Data for both passengers can be amended manually during the registration process. If this is done, the amended personal details will be updated automatically in the Member’s myRyanair account. It will not be possible to change the Ryanair Prime Companion during the Contract Period.

3.1 Ryanair Prime Companions
Members can add Ryanair Prime Companions to their Ryanair Prime during the sign-up process by selecting “adding a Ryanair Prime Companion” and paying an additional Voucher Fee accordingly. Ryanair Prime Companions properly added to Ryanair Prime will appear in the 'Travel Companions' section of the Member's myRyanair account, with a special tag next to their names indicating that they are a Ryanair Prime Companion. We reserve the right to accept or reject a passenger to be added as Prime Companion.

All Ryanair Prime bookings must be made through the Ryanair Prime Member’s myRyanair account. All communications related to Ryanair Prime and the bookings made through it will be sent to the Ryanair Prime Member only, and will not be sent to the Ryanair Prime Companion.

Only passengers who are Members or Ryanair Prime Companions under the same Ryanair Prime account can be included in the same Ryanair Prime booking. Notwithstanding this, up to two infants (i.e., minors under 2 years old) can be added to a Ryanair Prime booking during the booking process (1 infant per adult on the booking to a maximum of 2). However, such infants will be treated as regular passengers and will not be entitled to receive any Ryanair Prime Benefits. Members and Ryanair Prime Companions can however link their Ryanair Prime bookings with the bookings of others, but this may incur an additional fee. More info on linking bookings can be found here.

Ryanair’s contract for Ryanair Prime is strictly with the Ryanair Prime Member only. While the Member may choose to add a Ryanair Prime Companion by paying an additional Voucher Fee which will enable the Member to avail of most of the Ryanair Prime Benefits in relation to their Ryanair Prime Companion, in no event will Ryanair be liable, directly or indirectly, to a Ryanair Prime Companion for any actions or inactions relating to Ryanair Prime. To the extent permitted by applicable laws, nothing in these Terms, express or implied, is intended to or shall confer upon any person (other than the Ryanair Prime Member) any right, benefit or remedy of any nature whatsoever under or by reason of these Terms.

Ryanair Prime enables a Member, together with their Ryanair Prime Companion if applicable, to avail of the following benefits, subject to certain limitations, and strictly only in respect of flights which are booked and operated during a current Contract Period:

i. Regular emails giving access to exclusive discounted flight sales,
ii. a limited number of free reserved seating in specific rows and
iii. travel insurance for all flights.

A Member can book a flight to use personally, to use together with their Ryanair Prime Companion, or for their Ryanair Prime Companion to travel independently. All Ryanair Prime bookings can only be made by the Member through their myRyanair account.

  • A. Exclusive member emails: Members will be notified regularly by email to the email address linked to the Ryanair Prime account about upcoming exclusive flight sales and other relevant offers. These emails are an essential part of the Ryanair Prime service and are a necessary feature of the Ryanair Prime contract. Therefore, Members cannot opt-out of receiving them.
  • B. Discounted fares: Members can book an unlimited number of flights with discounted Ryanair Prime fares for the Member and if applicable, their Ryanair Prime Companion, subject to availability. Certain fare offers may be discontinued between the offer and the point of booking. Discounted fares will only apply to flights that depart within the Member’s current Contract Period.
  • C. Travel insurance: A Member and if applicable their Ryanair Prime Companion will automatically have travel insurance coverage for all Ryanair Group (Ryanair DAC, Ryanair UK, Buzz, Lauda and Malta Air) flights, strictly provided that;
    • the flight operates during the current Contract Period;
    • the Ryanair Prime subscription is valid,
    •  the Member has not opted out of insurance cover during the sign up flow for themselves or their Ryanair Prime Companion);; and
    • the Member or Ryanair Prime Companion as the case may be, is not subject to the Insurance Restrictions.

The travel insurance will cover Members and their Ryanair Prime Companions in the event of flight cancellations caused by injury or illness (except Covid-19 and pre-existing medical issues) and various events such as medical emergencies, delayed departures and stolen baggage. In the EU, Members over 70 years old will be excluded from some specific aspects of the insurance, such as the medical protection, but they will still be able to benefit from the other aspects of the insurance coverage. Membership Data will be processed by XCover in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

Members will have all their Ryanair Group flights that depart during the Contract Period covered by the insurance protection, regardless of whether the booking was made before subscribing to Ryanair Prime or through a different account than the Ryanair Prime member's account.

Members can decide to opt-out of the insurance cover during the sign-up flow of Ryanair Prime. In that case, Members who opt out, together with their Ryanair Prime Companions, will not be covered with XCover´s insurance protection. Ryanair Prime Members who opt-out of insurance cover for them and their Ryanair Prime Companion will still be subject to the same Voucher Fee had they availed of the insurance cover and shall not be entitled to any refund, discount or compensation in this regard.

  • D. Seat reservation: A Member may reserve up to 12 free seats for the Member and 12 free seats for their Ryanair Prime Companion in designated rows on specific flights at no additional cost, subject to availability. See rules for reserved seating. There is no guarantee that a Member and their Ryanair Prime Companion will be able to select seats together. Where designated seats are available for Members and/or Ryanair Prime Companions, they must select seats from those designated seats and random seat allocation will not be available.

Where no Ryanair Prime designated seats are available, Members and Ryanair Prime Companions will be subject to random allocation.

If the Member and/or Ryanair Prime Companion prefer to choose a seat other than a Ryanair Prime designated seat or a randomly allocated seat, they may do so, but they must pay the difference between the price of the preferred seat and the price of the seat available through Ryanair Prime. For Regular, Flexi and Plus fares, the price of a reserved seat (£/€9) will be discounted from the total bundle price. For Ryanair Prime Member bookings and Ryanair Prime Companion bookings, reserved seat(s) are shown as discounted from the total bundle price, following the same discount rules mentioned above. Availability of seats and row distribution may vary depending on the operated aircraft.

Please be aware that any remaining Ryanair Prime Benefits from any given Contract Period cannot be carried over to any subsequent Contract Period, even in the event that the Member renews the Ryanair Prime subscription. A Member cannot book a flight with Ryanair Prime Benefits during their current Contract Period that departs after the current Contract Period terminates EVEN IF the Member plans to renew their subscription.

Where available, Members will be able to select any Ryanair fare bundle in making a Ryanair Prime booking and any Ryanair Prime Benefits will be factored into the price of the available fare bundle options.

Members will be able to change any flight fare booked through Ryanair Prime for another flight fare for a fee (see Fees page). If a Member cancels a flight in respect of which they have used Ryanair Prime Benefits, or decides not to board a flight in respect of which they have used Ryanair Prime Benefits, the Ryanair Prime Benefits associated with such flight shall be forfeited, and no refund shall be offered subject to Article 10 of the General Terms and Conditions of Carriage.

Ryanair Prime Benefits cannot, under any circumstances, be sold or otherwise transferred to any third party. Ryanair Prime Members and their Ryanair Prime Companions cannot be substituted for any third party under any circumstances. Ryanair Prime Benefits cannot be applied to bookings made prior to the current Contract Period or bookings made using a myRyanair account other than the Member’s myRyanair account. However, flights booked before a passenger subscribed to Ryanair Prime will, subject to these Terms, be covered by the travel insurance, provided they depart during an active Contract Period.

Ryanair Prime Benefits expire at the end of each Contract Period. Members and Ryanair Prime Companions who have not used all of their respective Ryanair Prime Benefits by the end of the Contract Period are not eligible for a refund or any form of compensation, regardless of the reasons for not using them.

Ryanair Prime is a 12-Month programme commencing from the date the Member pays the Voucher Fee to subscribe to Ryanair Prime.

If the Member does not terminate their Ryanair Prime membership according to Section 8 below, the Member explicitly consents to their membership being automatically renewed for an additional 12-month Contract Period. This new Contract Period will begin the day after the last Contract Period concludes. The Member will be charged a new Voucher Fee for this new Contract Period using the same method of payment used for the initial Voucher Fee as set out in Section 7 below. If the Member had a Ryanair Prime Companion previously, then the new Voucher Fee will include the additional fee for the Ryanair Prime Companion.

The Member will be expressly notified by email about the automatic renewal 30 days before their current Contract Period expires. The Member may choose not to renew their Ryanair Prime membership at any point up until the expiry of the existing Contract Period. The email will inform the Member about any additional costs of the renewal of the Ryanair Prime membership and how to switch off auto-renewal if they wish.

Where Ryanair intends to increase the Voucher Fee, Ryanair will notify the Member and unless the Member expressly agrees to the increased Voucher Fee, the Member’s subscription will automatically terminate at the expiry of the Contract Period.

Under applicable law, Members may cancel their contract without giving any reasons within the first 14 calendar days of paying the Voucher Fee(s) in the initial Contract Period and get a refund. This right does not apply to any subsequent auto-renewed Contract Periods.

If no benefits have been used (i.e. you have not taken a flight) a full refund of the Voucher Fee(s) paid will be issued to the original payment method. If the Member, or their Ryanair Prime Companion have flown before cancelling Ryanair Prime, the cost of the Ryanair Prime Benefits used will be deducted from the refund. In other words, Ryanair will refund the Voucher Fee(s) minus: (i) the difference in the Basic Fare (from the Ryanair Prime fare) (ii) the difference in the cost of the seat allocation and the discounted seat allocation under Ryanair Prime and (iii) the value of the insurance cover if applicable.

For flights booked through Ryanair Prime scheduled to depart after cancellation of Ryanair Prime during the cooling off period, the booking will stay active and will not be cancelled, but all associated Ryanair Prime Benefits like insurance if applicable (but not selected seats and fare discounts) will be cancelled. The value of the Ryanair Prime Benefits not cancelled will be deducted from the refund of the Voucher Fee(s).

No refund will be issued if the Ryanair Prime Benefits used exceed the Voucher Fee(s).

To exercise your right to cancel, Members must inform Ryanair of their decision to cancel this contract by an unequivocal statement. Members can electronically fill in and submit the model cancellation form that they can find in the Ryanair Prime section of their myRyanair account. If they use this option, we will communicate to them an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by email). Members can also cancel the contract by sending an unequivocal statement to that effect on a durable medium, for example by contacting our customer service. To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for the Members to send their communication concerning the exercise of their right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired. This right is separate from, and in addition to, the right to terminate the contract under Section 8 below.

The payment information provided by the Member during the subscription process will be used to charge the Voucher Fee(s). By subscribing to Ryanair Prime, the Member accepts this payment information will be stored and processed independently by our partner Elavon, so that we can charge the Voucher Fee(s) due for any subsequent Contract Period.

 

The Voucher Fee(s) charged is not refundable, without prejudice to Sections 6, 8 and 9 of these Terms. However, where the cost of a flight is reimbursed under Regulation EC 261/2004 or for any reason set out in Article 10 of Ryanair Group General Terms & Conditions of Carriage the flight and any seat cost incurred shall be refunded to the Member. If a flight is cancelled and the Member or Ryanair Prime Companion had selected a designated seat from their respective allocation of seats in accordance with their Prime Benefits, then that seat will go back into their (or the Ryanair Prime Companion’s as the case may be) remaining allocation of free seats.

8.1 Termination of the contract by the Member

If the Member cancels their subscription to Ryanair Prime, then the cancellation will only become effective upon the expiry of the current Contract Period. The Voucher Fee(s) paid for the current Contract Period will not be refunded (unless the contract is cancelled in accordance with the statutory cancellation right in Section 6 above), but the Member will still be entitled to avail of any remaining Ryanair Prime Benefits for that Member and if applicable their Ryanair Prime Companion until the then active Contract Period expires. In this case the Ryanair Prime membership will not be automatically renewed.

 

The Member will be able to terminate the Ryanair Prime membership through their myRyanair account or by contacting Ryanair's Customer Service. The right to termination is separate, and in addition to, the statutory right to cancel (14 day cooling off period) set out in Section 6 above.

8.2 Termination of the contract by Ryanair

Ryanair reserves the right to immediately terminate the Ryanair Prime subscription and/or to
immediately terminate the Ryanair Prime Member’s and/or the Ryanair Prime Companion’s access to
the Ryanair Prime Benefits, at any time:

i. For any behaviour that Ryanair, in its own opinion and at its sole discretion, deems abusive
and/or exploitative behaviour on the part of the Ryanair Prime Member and/or the
Ryanair Prime Companion
ii. If Ryanair determines, that prior to, or during any Contract Period that:
a. the Ryanair Prime Member and/or Ryanair Prime Companion has violated these
Terms, the Ryanair Group General Terms & Conditions of Carriage, the Ryanair
Website Terms of Use, or any applicable law, and/or
b. the Ryanair Prime Member and/or the Ryanair Prime Companion have used Ryanair
Prime fraudulently or improperly.
iii. Where the Ryanair Prime Member and/or Ryanair Prime Companion were or are not
eligible to be a Ryanair Prime Member and/or a Ryanair Prime Companion.

Where Ryanair invokes its termination rights above, the Ryanair Prime Member will not be entitled to
any refund.

Ryanair reserves the right to immediately suspend access to Ryanair Prime and/or terminate the
Ryanair Prime contracts where it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation imposed on Ryanair.

Ryanair reserves the right to suspend, discontinue or decline to renew Ryanair Prime in whole or in
part on 30 days’ notice to the Members of its intention to do so.

If we make any modifications to these Terms or to Ryanair Prime including but not limited to changes required for compliance with a legal obligation imposed on Ryanair or for security purposes, we will notify Members in a timely manner by email prior to such changes taking effect. Members may choose not to accept these changes and can terminate their membership to the Ryanair Prime within 10 days. In this case, we will issue a prorated refund of the Voucher Fee(s) for the remaining time of the current Contract Period. In this particular case, the subscription to Ryanair Prime will immediately be cancelled.

We collect and process personal data, including Membership Data, in accordance with Ryanair’s
Privacy Policy. We process Membership Data on the basis of contractual necessity to provide Members and, where applicable, their Ryanair Prime Companion, with the Ryanair Prime service. Membership Data is securely stored in Ryanair's database. Membership Data is retained for the Contract Period and for a period of 6 years after, in order to provide Members with the Ryanair Prime service pursuant to these Terms. We also rely on our legitimate interest to perform statistical and marketing analysis, systems testing, maintenance and development, which may include the combination of data for profiling purposes to provide offers that are relevant to the Member. Regular reports with aggregated data will be generated to monitor membership uptake, benefit utilization, and financial impact. Metrics such as the number of Ryanair Prime Members/Prime Companions, sectors booked, and cost savings will be tracked and analysed.

As part of the benefits of Ryanair Prime, Members will receive regular service emails informing them of exclusive Ryanair Prime Member sales. These communications will be sent to the email address registered in the myRyanair account associated with the Member’s Ryanair Prime account.

By providing a Ryanair Prime Companion’s personal information, the Member confirms its accuracy, and that the Ryanair Prime Companion has consented to their personal data being used by Ryanair to provide them Ryanair Prime Benefits and is aware of these Terms. The Member is solely responsible for providing personal data of their Ryanair Prime Companion. Ryanair will not be liable for any issue arising from the fact that the Member provided erroneous data from them or from their Ryanair Prime Companions.

The myRyanair account associated with Ryanair Prime cannot be deleted or changed to a different account during an active Ryanair Prime Contract Period.

If the Ryanair Prime subscription is terminated, data subjects may request both the erasure of their
Membership Data and/or the deletion of their myRyanair account from that point onward.

In the event that a Member terminates the subscription during the cooling-off period pursuant to Section 6 but made a booking during such period that departs after the expiration of said period, the Membership Data, Benefit Data, and the myRyanair account associated with the booking cannot not be deleted until the completion of the flight.

If any provision of these Terms shall be found to be unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, that specific term shall be deemed severable from these Terms and shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.

Except as otherwise provided by applicable law, these Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Ireland.
