Travel Agent Bookings

Booking with Travel Agents

Third-party travel agents are companies who do not have any commercial agreements with Ryanair to sell our flights and products. These companies make their profits by adding their own commissions to Ryanair flights and products, which means customers who book through them often pay more than customers who book directly with Ryanair.

Some third-party travel agents do not pass on to us your personal contact and / or payment details, which means we cannot contact you with important updates of your booking or process refunds directly to you.

We advise that customers only book Ryanair flights directly through the Ryanair App and the Ryanair website, and to always check the website’s URL for www.ryanair.com.

If you have been asked to verify your identity, it is because your booking has been flagged as having been made by a third-party travel agent that has no commercial agreement with Ryanair to sell our flights. Many of these third-party travel agents complete the Ryanair check-in process for their customers. For your safety and security, and for the safety and security of your fellow passengers and our crew, the check-in process must be completed by you personally, by a passenger on your booking, or by an individual with personal knowledge of you and of the contents of your luggage. This requirement is to ensure that the relevant persons on the booking are on notice of, and have confirmed compliance with required safety, security and public health protocols, including those set out by the ICAO Technical Instructions, Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, and the EASA/ECDC Covid-19 Aviation Health Safety Protocol.

You must verify your identity before you can complete the check-in process so that we can ensure that you are aware of and have complied with all safety and security regulations.

If you have been asked to verify your booking, you have the following two options.

  1. Express Verification – is the quickest option, as it uses facial recognition technology provided by our partner GetID. To complete the process, you will need to have the Ryanair booking reference code, your passport or National Identity Card, and a device (phone, tablet, or laptop) with a camera to hand. You will be asked to pay €/£0.59c to cover the cost of GetID’s facial recognition technology. Ryanair does not benefit commercially from verification fees. Once verification is complete, you will be asked to amend the email address on the booking to ensure Ryanair can contact you with important flight information. To start Express Verification, please click here.
  2. Standard Verification involves submitting a picture of a completed and signed Customer Verification Form together with a picture of your passport or national identification card (provided it contains your signature). We will then compare signatures on each document to ensure they match. This process can take up to 7 days, but we will prioritise bookings with the earliest departure date to ensure you are verified on time for your flight. This service is provided free of charge. Once verified we will email you (no later than 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure time) with instructions advising you on how to check-in online in accordance with safety and security requirements. To start Standard Verification, please click here.

If you do not avail of either Express Verification or Standard Verification you will be required to verify at the airport check-in desk. This option requires you to arrive at the airport check-in desk at least 1 hour before your scheduled departure and complete the verification process with one of our agents. Once the agent has confirmed your identity and ensured you are on notice of relevant safety and security requirements, they will check you in. We do not recommend this option as a fee applies to airport check-in. Please see our Table of Fees here.

Third-party travel agents often use technology (including bots) to copy the content of airline websites for display on their own website. This can make it difficult for customers to tell if they are booking on the official Ryanair.com website. Unfortunately, there are currently no technical defences available to airlines to block these activities.

However, we have introduced our Ryanair Verified Seal, a branded tick which acts as a simple identifier to customers to guarantee they are booking via an authorised Ryanair channel. Therefore, if you are making a future booking and do not see our Ryanair Verified Seal, the booking is being made through a third-party travel agent. Bookings made through our App/Website are always verified. If you are booking online, always check the website’s URL for www.ryanair.com.

Online Verification

Where a booking appears to have been made through a third-party travel agent who has no commercial relationship with Ryanair, the booking may be blocked. As third-party travel agents often do not provide Ryanair with the passenger’s correct email address and payment details, we need to verify the passenger’s identity before they can manage their booking and check-in online. Ryanair needs to carry out this verification process in order to ensure we can comply with safety and security requirements.

You have two options for online verification which you can complete by clicking the link below. If you choose to complete online verification you can do so by clicking the link below or the link in the email sent to the email address used to complete your booking, or by accessing your booking on Ryanair.com or the Ryanair app. To complete the process, you will need to have the Ryanair booking reference code, your passport or National Identity Card, and a device (phone, tablet, or laptop) with a camera. Once Verification is complete, you will be asked to amend the email address on the booking to ensure Ryanair can contact you with important flight information.

The two online verification options are Express Verification and Standard Verification.

  1. Express Verification – is the quickest option, as it uses facial recognition technology provided by our partner GetID. To complete the process, you will need to have the Ryanair booking reference code, your passport or National Identity Card, and a device (phone, tablet, or laptop) with a camera to hand.

Express Verification is available at a cost of €/£0.59c per booking. This fee is to cover the cost of GetID’s online verification face recognition tool. Ryanair does not benefit commercially from verification fees. If you wish to recoup this cost, we advise you to contact the third-party travel agent you booked through. Standard Verification is free of charge.

Express Verification takes approx. two minutes. Standard Verification can take up to seven days.

You will need your Ryanair booking reference which the third-party travel agent should have provided you with. This is a 6-digit code unique to your booking. You will also need a form of identification with a photo/signature on it (National ID card or passport) and a device (e.g. phone, tablet, laptop) with a camera.

If you use a verified source (Ryanair.com or the Ryanair app) for future bookings, you will not be required to complete this process again. We urge all of our customers to only book through platforms which have the Ryanair Verified Seal.
