Bag Policies

All passenger fare types include a small personal bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you. If you need additional baggage allowance, there are various options available to you.

All our fares include one small personal bag which can be brought on board, such as a handbag or laptop bag (40x20x25cm), which must fit under the seat in front of you. If you need additional baggage allowance, there are various options available to you.

1: Cabin Baggage:

• Priority & 2 Cabin Bags: This allows you to carry a small personal bag (40x20x25cm), which must fit under the seat in front of you and a 10kg bag (55x40x20cm) onboard, to be stored in the overhead locker. It also allows you to board the plane first using the Priority Boarding queue at the gate.

2: Checked Baggage:

• 10kg Check-in Bag: If you wish to check in a bag, you can add a 10kg Check-in Bag to your booking. Bags must be dropped at the airport check-in desk before security and will be placed in the aircraft hold.
• 20kg Check-in Bag: If you require a larger baggage allowance, you can add a 20kg Check-in Bag to your booking. Passengers can purchase up to 3 checked bags of 20kg on their booking.

3: Infant Baggage

• We know that travelling with an infant can be stressful, so we allow you to carry 2 items of baby equipment free of charge per child, to make your journey as seamless as possible. There is no cabin bag allowance for an infant (aged 8 days to 23 months inclusive). However, we allow a baby bag up to 5kg (dimensions: 45x35x20cms) for babies travelling on an adult's lap.

1. Click ‘My Bookings’ on Ryanair’s website or ‘My trips’ on the mobile app.
2. Log into your myRyanair account.
3. Select ‘Manage this booking’ on the booking you need to change.
4. Select the ‘Add bags/equipment’ option.
5. Add bags/equipment needed.
6. Continue to payment.
7. Enter in your payment details and click ‘Pay Now’. You’ll then receive an updated email itinerary with the added bags/equipment.
8. Once the change is confirmed, you will be brought back to the upcoming trip page.

  Add Bags/Equipment

You must adhere strictly to the baggage allowance on your booking. If your small bag or 10kg cabin bag does not fit in the baggage sizers, which are placed at every boarding gate, we will tag your bag and place it in the aircraft hold subject to payment of a gate bag fee. You can collect it on the baggage carousel at your arrival airport.

If a small bag is not sufficient and Priority & 2 Cabin Bags is sold out, you can still add a 10kg Check-in Bag to your booking. However, you will need to drop this 10kg Check-in Bag at our airport check-in desk before going through security.

The maximum dimensions of a 20kg Check-in Bag are 80×120×120 cm.

If your Check-in Bag exceeds the baggage size dimensions, you will need to check it in at the Oversize Baggage Desk and will be charged an appropriate fee. See our Table of Fees.

If your Check-in Bag exceeds your baggage weight allowance (10kg or 20kg), you will be charged an additional excess weight fee per extra kilo at the airport. See our Table of Fees.

For safety reasons, Ryanair does not accept any individual items exceeding 32 kilos or with combined dimensions of more than 80cms (height), 120cms (width) and 120cms (depth). This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.

Yes. Bag pooling is allowed between passengers with check-in bags on the same flight reservation. This means that if you have 2 20kg Check-in Bags (40kg total) on your booking, one of those bags could weigh 15kg while the other weighs 25kg. However, no bag can weigh more than 32kg.

No. You will not be able to remove Bags from your booking or get a refund once purchased. See Article 10 of our General Terms and Conditions of Carriage for info on our Refund policy.

If you have purchased a Check-in Bag you must check this in at the bag drop desk at the airport. If you bring your Check-in Bags to the boarding gate, you will have to pay a fee, per bag, to place them in the aircraft hold. If you do not pay the Gate Bag fee you will not be able to board your flight.

If you are travelling with high-value items (including mobility aids), we recommend you request a special baggage liability cover called ‘Checked Baggage Special Declaration of Value’ to safeguard against loss or damage. In the unlikely event of this occurring, our liability limit will increase from approx. €1,600 to €2,800 per person (or from 1,288 to 2,262 Special Drawing Rights as per the Montreal Convention 1999).
