Travel Insurance Bought Through Ryanair

Yes. If you have not started your trip, you can change your Travel Insurance. You must contact your travel insurance provider directly to change your policy cover.

Yes. You can cancel your policy within 14 days of paying for it (provided you haven’t yet started your trip).

When contacting your travel insurance provider, please include your booking reference number.

Upon request, we can send an insurance letter in PDF format confirming a flight delay of over 3 hours or a flight cancellation to the email address provided at the time of booking.

Medical expenses are not covered for travellers that are 70 years of age or older at the time of the medical treatment. Travellers over 70 are still covered if they need to cancel due to a covered medical event.

Additionally, any insured person aged 65 and over is subject to double the excess under the cancellation & curtailment, medical & treatment expenses and trip abandonment sections of the policy.

Yes. Some general exclusions and conditions will apply to most travel policies and may, for example, exclude pre-existing medical conditions known to you personally or your relatives, travelling companions, or anyone whose ill health would force you to cancel or cut short your trip. Please read your policy document carefully to ensure you have the required cover.

Fare Bundles

We have different fare bundles to suit all travel needs.

  • Basic Fare: It’s our cheapest fare and includes 1 Small Cabin Bag (40x20x25cm), which must fit under the seat in front of you, with no additional baggage allowance. Check-in opens 24 hours before your flight departure time and your seat will be randomly assigned to you during this time.
  • Regular Fare: This fare includes a standard seat and priority boarding, which means you can board the aircraft first via the Priority Queue and carry 2 Cabin Bags onboard (1 Small Cabin Bag (40x20x25cm) to be stored under the seat in front of you and 1 10kg Cabin Bag (55x40x20cm) to be stored in the overhead locker.
  • Plus: This fare includes a standard seat and gives you a baggage allowance of 1 Small Cabin Bag onboard (which must fit under the seat) and 1 20kg Check-in Bag.
  • Family Plus: This is our family bundle and includes 1 Small Cabin Bag (40x20x25cm), which must fit under the seat in front of you, 1 10kg Check-in Bag for each group member, free seats for children under 12 and 1 20kg Check-in Family Bag, which must be checked at the Bag Drop Desk. Family Plus fares are available on all flights for bookings of up to six passengers with at least one child or teen.
  • Flexi Plus: This includes Priority Boarding & 2 Cabin Bags (1 Small Cabin Bag and 1 10kg Cabin Bag), reserved seating in any of our seating options, Airport Security Fast Track (where available) and free Airport Check-in. You can change your booked flight to a different date, time or route without paying the flight change fee, but you must pay the fare difference. Changes can be done before or on the day of travel online. If you are changing to a later flight, you can make the change up to one hour before the departure time of the original flight. If you are changing to an earlier flight, you can make the change online (up to 2.5 hours pre-departure of the original flight), through our contact centre (up to 1 hour pre-departure of the original flight) or at the airport desk (up to 40 minutes pre-departure).

Yes. To add a seat or a bag to your booking, go to My Bookings and add seats and bags via the My Bookings section.

Please remember you can only do this up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight.

Changing your booked flight or route on the day of travel

With a Flexi Plus fare, you can change your booked flight on the day of travel, free of charge, to a flight on the same route as your original flight (if a seat is available). If you change your booked flight on the day of travel to a flight on a different route you will not have to pay a flight-change fee, but you must pay any difference in the fare. If you are changing to a later flight, you can make the change up to one hour before the departure time of the original flight. If you are changing to an earlier flight, you can make the change:

  • up to 40 minutes before the new flight if you make the change at the airport ticket desk; or
  • up to one hour before the new flight if you make the change through a contact centre.

Changing your booked flight or route before the day of travel

If you change to a flight departing one day or more before or after the original flight, you will not have to pay a flight-change fee, but you must pay any difference in the fare. You can make the change up to one hour before the departure time of the original flight. If you are changing to an earlier flight, you can make the change:

  • up to 40 minutes before the new flight if you make the change at the airport ticket desk; or
  • up to one hour before the new flight if you make the change through a contact centre.

If you have already checked in online for the original flight, you will need to contact us to uncheck that flight before you can make the change. With a Flexi Plus ticket you can check in at the airport free of charge.

You can change the route of all flights in a booking online through My bookings section. However, once you have taken the outbound flight, you can only change the route of the return flight at an airport ticket desk or through a call centreYou can only change the route between the same departure country and destination country.

When you change a flight, the services included in Flexi Plus are transferred to the new flight (if those services are available for that flight). If a service cannot be transferred, you will not get a refund of any part of the Flexi Plus fare.

Flexi Plus – name changes

Regulation 13 still applies to name changes, and you will need to pay the appropriate fee.

Currently, Apple Visa and Apple Mastercard can only be used through our Ryanair app. For customers in Germany, SEPA direct debit payments can be accepted up to 10 days before your flight.

A cost-related payment fee (% of the total transaction value) may apply depending on the form of payment used and the location of the payment service providers. You will always be notified of this fee in the total price once you enter your card number on the payment page.

Ryanair takes online security very seriously. That’s why we require you to enter your credit/debit card verification number (CVV) or card identification number (CID) for American Express cards before we can process your payment.

The CVV is the last three-digit number printed on the signature panel located on the back of your card. The CVV/CID is a security feature that allows Ryanair and your credit card issuer to identify you as the cardholder and provide you with additional security against fraud.

Our Gift Cards can be used as payment for flights, seats, priority, checked bags, plus, fast track, baby equipment, music equipment, sports equipment, travel insurance and associated taxes, fees, and charges (not car hire, transfers, or hotel bookings).

To book a flight using the Gift Card, have the 18-digit Gift Card number ready and insert the number during check-out on the right-hand side of the page, then click Redeem. 

The Gift Card code is valid until fully redeemed up to expiry date.

Gift Cards are valid for 5 years after the issue date and can be redeemed at any time within that time on our site. We regret that the validity of Gift Cards cannot be extended and encourage recipients to use their gift cards as soon as they receive them.

If your payment is declined, there may be a problem with your card, and you may need to provide a different form of payment. You will have the opportunity to go back to the payment page to enter your payment details a second time. However, if the payment is declined again, the flights you selected will automatically be cancelled and you will need to start the booking process again.

If your payment’s “pending”, it’s still in a queue to be approved by your bank. You may need to wait up to 24 hours for your credit/debit card to process the payment. Your booking will not be confirmed until we have received full payment. Once it is processed successfully, you will get a confirmation email including your reservation number and itinerary.

Key Rights under Directive (EU) 2015/2302

  • Travellers will receive all essential information about the package before concluding the package travel contract.
  • There is always at least one trader who is liable for the proper performance of all the travel services included in the contract.
  • Travellers are given an emergency telephone number or details of a contact point where they can get in touch with the organiser.
  • Travellers may transfer the package to another person, on reasonable notice and possibly subject to additional costs.
  • The price of the package may only be increased if specific costs rise (for instance, fuel prices) and if expressly provided for in the contract, and in any event not later than 20 days before the start of the package. If the price increase exceeds 8 % of the price of the package, the traveller may terminate the contract. If the organiser reserves the right to a price increase, the traveller has a right to a price reduction if there is a decrease in the relevant costs.
  • Travellers may terminate the contract without paying any termination fee and get a full refund of any payments if any of the essential elements of the package, other than the price, are changed significantly. If before the start of the package the trader responsible for the package cancels the package, travellers are entitled to a refund and compensation where appropriate.
  • Travellers may terminate the contract without paying any termination fee before the start of the package in the event of exceptional circumstances, for instance if there are serious security problems at the destination which are likely to affect the package.
  • Additionally, travellers may at any time before the start of the package terminate the contract in return for an appropriate and justifiable termination fee.
  • If, after the start of the package, significant elements of the package cannot be provided as agreed, suitable alternative arrangements will have to be offered to the traveller at no extra cost. Travellers may terminate the contract without paying any termination fee, where services are not performed in accordance with the contract and this substantially affects the performance of the package and the organiser fails to remedy the problem.
  • Travellers are also entitled to a price reduction and/or compensation for damages where the travel services are not performed or are improperly performed.
  • The organiser has to provide assistance if the traveller is in difficulty.
  • If the organiser or, in some Member States, the retailer becomes insolvent, payments will be refunded. If the organiser or, where applicable, the retailer becomes insolvent after the start of the package and if transport is included in the package, repatriation of the travellers is secured. Website & Payment Errors

If you experience an issue with a page loading, a Pay Now button being greyed out or the page being slow to respond, it is likely that there is a problem with the version of the Browser you are using or there may be a build-up of internet files (Cache/Cookies) that need to be deleted.

To overcome general website errors, we recommend the below steps.

  • Use the latest browser Google Chrome;
  • Switch to incognito mode after browsing history and cookies were removed;
  • Use the latest version of the Ryanair application. If you already have the Ryanair App installed, you may just need to update to the latest version through Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) – if not, you can download the latest version;
  • Please check your connection if you are using a Home, Corporate or public Wi-Fi, Fixed wire network i.e., Corp. LAN, 3G/4G mobile etc. You may need to fix these connection issues or attempt using a different device or more reliable connection type after following the above steps (1 - 3).

Booking Confirmation

When you pay for a flight, you will see your booking confirmation pop up on screen. You will then receive a confirmation email from us detailing your flight details, reservation number and the amount you paid. If this does not appear in your inbox, you should also check your email spam folder.

You can also check My Bookings section on both our website and the app once you are logged in to see all your upcoming trips.

Yes, you get one automatically. When you book a flight or add extras to your itinerary/booking, your confirmation email is your receipt/proof of purchase.

As for domestic flights, the fares and fees displayed include VAT at the applicable government rates in the following countries: Italy, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden. A VAT receipt will be automatically forwarded by email for domestic flight bookings within these countries.

For Italian domestic flights, invoices, requested during the booking, are sent to customers via Italian SdI system (Sistema di Interscambio).
For international flights, no VAT applies to airfares or fees when travelling on international journeys, however an invoice for an international flight can be requested during the booking.

Receipts (Booking, VAT, and Inflight)

Your confirmation email is your receipt/proof of purchase when you book a flight or add extras to your itinerary/booking.

As for domestic flights, the fares and fees displayed include VAT at the applicable government rates in the following countries: Italy, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden. A VAT receipt will be automatically forwarded by email for domestic flight bookings within these countries.

If you have not received your confirmation email, please check your spam folders in case our email has been filtered from your inbox. You can also access your itinerary for your trip by logging into your ‘myRyanair’ account and selecting ‘view itinerary’ and all your flight information should be there.

While you are booking your flight, you can enter VAT details at the bottom of the payment page on the web. We will then issue a receipt/invoice.

We do not issue paper receipts on board our flights as we want to stay Europe’s greenest airline, but you can get an e-receipt here.

Make sure to have your travel date and flight number ready. You will also need the cardholder's name and card number details.

Duplicate Bookings

You can confirm if you have made a duplicate booking by logging in to your myRyanair account to view your upcoming trip or view your booking at My Bookings.

A duplicate booking must be flagged prior to the departure of the flight to get a refund.

Group Bookings

If you require a group of 15 or more passengers, send a booking enquiry to our Group Travel Service team who provide you with a quote and book flights for you. We cater for groups of up to 189/197 passengers (number of passengers depends on the aircraft you are travelling on). The deadline for making group bookings is 14 days before the departure of the original flight.

To make a group booking, follow these simple steps:

  • Fill in a group booking request form and get a value quote valid for 5 days (subject to fare, seat and flight availability);
  • When you are ready to proceed with the booking, click “accept quote” on your quote, sent via email.
  • Once you accept the quote given, we will make the booking references and send you a payment link via email in order to confirm your booking.
  • To submit your passenger names, click on the link we send you within your booking confirmation, enter passenger name(s) and type (adult, teen, child, infant);

PayPal Promotion Terms and Conditions

1. The Promoter of the Free Monthly Flight for a Year Promotion (the “Promotion”) is Ryanair DAC (company no. 104547) whose registered office is at Ryanair Dublin Office, Airside Business Park, Swords, Co. Dublin, Ireland.

2. By entering the Promotion, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and all other special conditions relating to the Promotion.

3. Any person found to be in breach of these rules shall be disqualified immediately.

4. Employees (and family members of employees) of any Ryanair company, its affiliates, subsidiary companies (“Ryanair”), any representatives or agents of Ryanair and anyone who may be professionally involved with the Promotion may not enter. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants.

5. The Promotion is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older and residents of the Territories mentioned in Clause 8. The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of age and residency at any time for this purpose.

HOW TO ENTER 

7. The Promotion shall commence at 00:01 (Irish Standard Time) on 20 December 2024 and will end 23:59 (Irish Standard Time) 26 January 2025 (the “Promotion Period”).

8. To participate in this Promotion, entrants must complete the purchase of any available Ryanair flight via the official Ryanair website (Ryanair.com) or Ryanair App, available in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Ireland (the “Territories”), within the Promotion Period using a personal PayPal account and tick the relevant checkbox on the payment page to participate in the Promotion.

9. Except for any entries not accepted in accordance with Clause 10, all participants who complete the purchase of a Ryanair flight via the official Ryanair website (Ryanair.com) or the Ryanair App within the Promotion Period using a personal PayPal account and have ticked the relevant checkbox on the payment page will be entered into the Promotion (the “Participants”).

10. Entries which are, in the reasonable exercise of Ryanair’s discretion, illegible, corrupted, damaged, incomplete, received outside the Promotion Period, or deemed invalid in any way will not be accepted. Ryanair accepts no responsibility for entries that are misdirected or, lost, mislaid, incomplete, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, due to technical errors of the software or hardware systems used to enter participants into the Promotion.

THE DRAW AND NOTIFICATION TO WINNERS

11. On 27 January 2025, 15 entries will be selected at random (the “Selected Participants”) from all eligible entries (the "Draw"). The number of entries to be selected from each of the Territories will be 4 winners from Italy, 3 winners from Germany, and 2 winners each from Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, and Spain.

12. The Draw will take place under the supervision of an independent observer. 

13. The Selected Participants will be contacted via the email at the address provided at the time of entry before 07 February 2025 and must correctly answer a general knowledge question within 5 calendar days of being contacted in order to claim the prize. All Selected Participants will be asked the same general knowledge question. Failure to answer or correctly answer the general knowledge question within the required time will result in the Selected Participant being knocked out of the Promotion and no longer being eligible to win the Prize. The Promoter will then select another Selected Participant at random from the remaining eligible entries.

14. If the Selected Participant correctly answers the general knowledge question, they will be notified via email and will be provided with further details on how to redeem the Prize.

15. Prize T&Cs will be sent with the Selected Participants notification.

THE PRIZE

16. The Prize shall consist of one free return Ryanair basic fare flight for each month for 12 consecutive months starting in February 2025 (a max of 12 return flights for each prize winner). The winner(s) will receive 12 unique promotional codes, a specific code for each of the 12 calendar months, which will enable the winner(s) to book a free return Ryanair basic fare flight for each applicable calendar month.(the "Prize Codes").

17. Bookings can be made at any time following the winner(s) receipt of the Prize Codes, up until the last day in the month to which each Prize Code relates, subject to availability. (For example, the Prize Code for May can be used to book a free return Ryanair basic fare flight at any time from the receipt of the Prize Codes by the winner(s) until the 31st May 2025 but it must be for travel between 1st May 2025 and 31st May 2025). Each Prize Code will expire at the end of each calendar month and cannot be carried over for future travel. Any winner that does not use the relevant Prize Code for travel within the relevant calendar month will forfeit the free flight for that month.

18. Only Basic Fare Ryanair flights and taxes, booked on Ryanair.com [or the Ryanair App] will be redeemable, subject to availability, with the Prize Codes. For the avoidance of any doubt, any additional products and services (e.g., bags, seats, priority boarding, travel insurance, accommodation, transfers to/from the airport(s) and any other third-party ancillary services and products) are not redeemable with the Prize Code and will be at the winner's cost.

19. If a winner fails to attend for any reason whatsoever on the booked travel dates, or fails to comply with Ryanair’s General Terms and Condition of Carriage and Terms of Use, they will not be entitled to alternative flights, a refund or compensation.

20. Each Prize Code shall be limited to single use with two sectors (outbound and inbound flights between two identical destinations). No connecting flights are permitted.

21. Each Prize Code will be in the winner’s name as provided during the initial booking associated with the Promotion. No Name Changes will be permitted for bookings made with the Prize Code. Each booking is limited to the named winner receiving the Prize Code. No other passenger on the booking will be able to redeem the Prize Code.

HOW TO REDEEM

22. To redeem the Prize Codes customers must enter their relevant code in the [“Apply promo code”] on the payment page. If the booking dates match the Prize Code and the customer's name, the basic fare of the flight will be deducted from the basket and the winner will be able to complete their flight booking.

23. If a flight booked by the Prize Code free of charge is disrupted or cancelled, then the effected winners will not be entitled to any rerouting, refund (except for the additional products and services paid) or compensation, in accordance with applicable law.

24. The Prize Code is non-transferable or exchangeable and there is no cash alternative, or other form of compensation.

USE OF PERSONAL DATA

25. All personal information used solely in connection with the Promotion, including first and last names, e-mail address and age will be retained by Ryanair for 3 months from the closing date for the Promotion, after which the data will be deleted.

26. Selected Participants’ personal data will be shared with PayPal in order to confirm the eligibility to participate in the Promotion.

27. By entering the Promotion, Participants, Selected Participants and Winners, understand that their personal data will be processed in accordance with Ryanair’s Privacy Policy, which can be found under this link: https://www.ryanair.com/ie/en/lp/privacy-policy.

28. Ryanair reserves to right to publish or make available information that indicates that a valid Prize Draw took place. Entrants acknowledge that we must provide the information and winning entry to the ASAI or equivalent regulator on request.

29. The winner will be able to withdraw from the Promotion at any time by writing to our Data Protection Officer at Ryanair Head Office, Airside Business Park, Swords, County Dublin, Ireland or emailing our DPO at DPO@ryanair.com.

GENERAL

30. Ryanair reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion and/or amend the Promotion Terms and Conditions at any time due to circumstances beyond its control, which could not have been foreseen during the Promotion Period, and only when such circumstances are unavoidable by appropriate measures and prevent Ryanair from performing the Promotion and/or from applying all the Promotion Terms and Conditions.

31. Ryanair may disqualify any individual where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions or any instructions forming part of the Promotion’s entry requirements or otherwise where a Participant has gained unfair advantage in participating in the Promotion or won using fraudulent means.

32. Ryanair or its servants and agents shall not be liable, in contract or tort (including negligence), or for breach of statutory duty or any other way, for any loss, damage, injury or disappointment howsoever arising suffered directly or indirectly by any person participating in this Promotion or accepting a Prize. Nothing in these Terms shall limit the Promoter’s liability for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence.

33. Although Ryanair will use reasonable efforts to ensure that all information relating to the Promotion (“Promotion Material”) is accurate, Ryanair is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any communications network, online system or computer hardware or software failure, which Ryanair cannot anticipate, prevent or avoid, that may affect the Participant’s ability to access Ryanair’s operation of the Promotion or the Ryanair site.

34. Except as otherwise provided by applicable law, Irish law shall govern this Promotion and these Terms and Conditions, and the Courts of Ireland shall have sole and exclusive jurisdiction to decide any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Promotion and these Terms and Conditions.

35. If any provision of these terms and conditions is validly held to be void, illegal or otherwise unenforceable, this will not affect the enforceability of any other provisions not so held.

36. Failure or delay on the part of Ryanair in exercising any right under these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that right.
