Digital Boarding Pass

From November 12, 2025, Ryanair will switch to 100% digital boarding passes via its app, eliminating paper passes to reduce costs, improve service, and benefit the environment. Passengers must check in online; those who don't will incur an airport check-in fee.

Ryanair are moving to 100% Digital Boarding Passes (DBP) from 12 Nov 2025. This means from Wed 12 Nov, all passengers will receive a DBP to their Ryanair App when they check-in online as paper boarding passes will no longer be issued. Online check-in can be completed on Ryanair.com or on the Ryanair App.

Why this change?

• DBP lowers airport costs and fares for all Ryanair passengers.

• Provides a better service (including flight info) for customers on day of travel.

• Improves customer service and re-booking during flight disruptions.

• Better for our environment (gets rid of 300 tonnes of paper annually).

How does it work?

• Check-in online on Ryanair.com or Ryanair App prior to arriving at airport.

• After check-in your DBP will appear automatically in your Ryanair App.

• Present your DBP at airport security & at the boarding gate for your flight.

• Hassle free travel – quicker, easier, less stress, zero paper.

Airport Check-In

All Ryanair passengers will still receive email reminders to check-in online 48 and 24hrs predeparture. If any passenger arrives at airport but hasn’t checked-in online (having ignored these reminders), they will still be required to pay the airport check-in fee.

If you have already checked-in online and you lose your smartphone or tablet (or it dies), your details are already on our system and you will be assisted at the gate.

If passengers don’t have a smartphone or tablet, as long as they have already checked-in online before arriving at the airport, they will receive a free of charge boarding pass at the airport. However, they will not be able to access real-time flight updates or benefit from enhanced customer service during any flight disruptions.

Yes, we will have check-in and ticket desks at all airports.

Thanks to DBP, boarding pass re-issue fees will disappear as long as you have checked-in online prior to arriving at the airport.

Once you have checked-in online, your DBP will be available offline in the Ryanair App.

Our DBP meets all accessibility standards and special assistance is available at all airports.

For flights on or after 12 Nov 2025, passengers flying from Morocco must check-in online as normal and then present their DBP at the airport to collect a printed boarding pass.

You will be required to pay the airport check-in fee.

Yes. If there is an aircraft change after you have already checked in, your Digital Boarding Pass will automatically update in the Ryanair App. If it does not appear, and you have already checked in, our airport team will assist you and issue a new boarding pass free of charge.

A restricted boarding pass is issued when certain documents must be checked at the airport (for example ETA requirements, visa checks, or nationality‑based travel rules). If you receive a restricted boarding pass, follow the instructions in the Ryanair App and visit the airport check‑in desk for free document verification.

Some residency documents may be verified automatically during online check‑in. If additional checks are required, the Ryanair App will ask you to visit the airport check‑in desk. Your boarding pass will then be issued free of charge.

No. If the App instructs you to visit the check‑in desk for document verification, your boarding pass will be issued at no extra cost.
This is separate from the airport check‑in fee, which only applies if you did not complete online check‑in.

Each passenger will receive their own Digital Boarding Pass in the Ryanair App once check‑in is completed. Adults can hold children’s boarding passes in their App, but all adult passengers should have their own DBP available on their personal device.

If your Digital Boarding Pass shows “Status Pending“, it means that your details or documents are still being verified. Your DBP will update automatically once approved. If the status does not update before your airport arrival, our staff will assist you at the check‑in desk at no extra cost.

  • They have the Ryanair App: They log in with their email + booking reference and the DBP appears automatically.
  • You have all boarding passes on your phone: You can show all DBPs from one device or send them a screenshot (acceptable at most airports).
