How can I purchase Travel insurance?
Who can purchase Ryanair's travel insurance policy?
Anyone who is a resident in one of the countries listed below can purchase a travel insurance policy with Ryanair.
To qualify as a resident of a country, your main home must be in that country and you must not have been abroad for more than six months in the last year.
Unfortunately, we can’t offer travel insurance to residents of any country other than those listed. However, we strongly recommend that all passengers purchase suitable travel insurance cover.

What are the age limits of the policy?
If you are booking the insurance policy for a trip that involves a Ryanair flight, there are no age limits under our travel insurance policies.
However, any insured person aged 65 and over is subject to double the excess under the cancellation & curtailment, medical & treatment expenses and trip abandonment sections of the policy.
Are there any exclusions to the policy?
Yes. There are general exclusions and conditions that apply to the policy overall and some exclusions and conditions are specific to individual sections. Please read the policy document carefully to ensure you have the cover you need.
Can I buy an insurance policy if I live in an EU country but work outside Europe?
Yes, you can buy an insurance policy if you are a resident of an EU country. To be considered a resident, your main residence must be in an EU country and you cannot have stayed abroad for more than six months in the last year.
Does my policy only exclude my own pre-existing medical conditions?
No. Your policy excludes pre-existing medical conditions that are known to you, or that concern the health of you, your relatives, your travelling companions or anyone whose ill health would force you to cancel or cut short your trip.
A relative is defined as "brother, brother-in-law, common-law partner, daughter, daughter-in-law, fiancé(e), grandchild, legal guardian, parent, parent-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, son, son-in-law, or spouse who live in your country of residence".
Is it possible to upgrade the policy to include a pre-existing medical condition?
No, unfortunately we are unable to add additional cover for pre-existing medical conditions.
When does my insurance cover begin and end?
Your insurance policy offers you insurance protection in line with your flight timings. The policy will take effect and you will be covered against cancellation costs from the moment you purchase your flight and policy.
The remaining cover will come in to effect from the time you leave your home and commence your trip until your trip ends and you return back to your home.
If you have a one way flight your insurance policy will cover you for a single day and end once you have cleared customs in the country of your EU destination.
If you have purchased an annual multi-trip insurance policy, the policy will take effect from the moment you purchase your flight and policy for a period of one year. Your multi-trip insurance policy offers you insurance protection in line with your Ryanair flight timings taken during that year of cover.
