Creating an Account

All customers making a booking must have a myRyanair account. If you do not have an account already, you will need to create one. In order to ensure that the account has been created by you, we ask you to verify your identity.

This enhanced-security procedure will:

  1. ensure that we can communicate all necessary information, including service-related information, to you in a timely manner;
  2. protect you from becoming a victim of cybercrime including ghost brokering
  3. allow us to operate our business in a way that ensures we can continue to deliver the lowest fares to our customers.
  4. ensure that you, a passenger on your booking, or a duly authorized natural person with personal knowledge of you and the contents of your baggage, complete dangerous goods declarations which are intended to ensure the safety and security of all of our passengers and staff
  5. ensure the accuracy of your data so that we can comply with our obligations to you (and more generally) under EU and national law requirements

It is important to Ryanair that we do everything within our power to guarantee your safety and security and the safety and security of all of our passengers and staff. This process is aimed at helping us achieve this goal by enabling us to Know-Our-Passenger.

To verify you will need a device with a camera and the original of your Passport or National Identity Card . To set up an account you will need your email address and you will need to create a password.

You will need a Passport or National Identity Card that is in date at the time of verifying your account. Please keep in mind, that if your travel document is due to expire before you travel, you will need to renew it beforehand.

When creating your myRyanair account or signing into your myRyanair account from a different device you will be asked to enter a verification code. Check the inbox of the email address associated with your myRyanair account for the code we will send you. This code must be typed in manually and will activate your account.

Express Verification uses facial recognition technology provided by our partner GetID, to cross check the photo on your ID document against a photo of your face that you will take whilst verifying. You will need to carry out a liveness check of your face by performing some actions that you will be asked to do.

Standard Verification cross checks your signature by comparing your signature on your ID with your signature that we will ask you to provide during the process.

Both Express and Standard Verification will also verify the validity of your ID.

We know that not everyone is comfortable with facial recognition tools which is why we offer Standard Verification as an alternative option.

Yes, both Express Verification and Standard Verification are free of charge. You can create and verify your myRyanair account free of charge.

No, only the person who will own the account, needs to complete verification.

No, you do not need to use the same ID for travelling. For travelling, you can use any form of accepted ID. You can see a full list of these here.

There are number of reasons your ID document may fail verification:

  • Image quality: The quality of the picture you took may not be acceptable. Follow on screen instructions to ensure you are taking the photo correctly. Make sure your ID document is within the frame on screen (frame will turn green when positioned correctly) and that all information is readable. Avoid overhead lights which may cause a glare that blocks some important information.
  • ID document expired: Check the expiry date on your ID document. The document you’re using must be in date at the time of verification. Wrong ID document type: We only accept Passports and National Identity Cards for account verification.

If you are getting errors, please continue attempting until prompted otherwise.

Make sure you are following the on-screen instructions. You will be asked to smile, close your eyes, and turn your head left and right. Ensure your face is within the frame. If the issue persists, we recommend completing Standard Verification instead.

Ensure your face is within the highlighted frame. Make sure the person taking the selfie/completing the liveness check is the same person who owns the ID document you are using. If the issue persists, we recommend completing Standard Verification instead.
