What is Verification?
If you booked using an Online Travel Agent (OTA), as OTAs often use bots to complete the booking process, you have likely not been given any opportunity during booking to engage directly with Ryanair. The verification process allows us to ensure a passenger has received important information from Ryanair and completed check-in personally.
Why do I need to complete verification?
In order to comply with public health, security and safety regulations, we need to ensure that a passenger has completed the check-in process personally. Customers can complete the verification process online for a small cost fee or present at the airport check-in desk on the day of travel at least 120 mins prior to departure. If you would also like to purchase ancillaries at the check-in desk, please be aware that during summer months our airports are busier than usual and queues at the check-in desk may be longer as a result.
How do I use the online verification process?
If you choose to complete online verification you can do so by clicking the link below or the link in the email sent to the email address used to complete your booking, or by accessing your booking on Ryanair.com or the Ryanair app. To complete the process, you will be required to use a device with a front-facing camera and have your Passport or National Identity Card to hand. Facial recognition technology will then match your Passport or National Identity Card to a photo taken in real time. If verification is successful you will be asked to amend the email address on the booking to ensure Ryanair can contact you with important information relating to your booking.
Online verification
You can verify your identity online for a small at cost fee of €0.35.
What is the charge for online verification, and can it be refunded?
Online verification is available at a cost of 35c per booking. This fee is to cover the cost of the online verification tool. Ryanair does not benefit commercially from this transaction. If you wish to recoup this cost, we advise you to contact the Online Travel Agent to cover the cost of this necessary safety requirement.
How long does it take to complete?
Online verification can be completed in minutes.
What documents do I need to complete the process?
A valid Passport or a National Identity Card.
Will I have to repeat this process for future bookings?
If you use a verified source (Ryanair.com or the Ryanair app) for future bookings, you will not be required to complete this process again. We urge all our customers to only book on platforms which have the Ryanair Verified Seal .
Who can I contact if I need support relating to the verification process?
Please contact our call centre if you have queries regarding the verification process.
I didn’t realise I booked through an Online Travel Agent (OTA), how can I prevent this from happening again?
OTAs often use technology (including bots) to copy the content of airline sites for display on their own website, which makes it difficult for customers to tell if they are booking on the official Ryanair.com website. Unfortunately, there are currently no technical defences available to airlines to block these activities. However, we have introduced our Ryanair Verified Seal , a branded tick which acts as a simple identifier to customers to guarantee they are booking directly with Ryanair.
