What items are permitted on board?

Medical Items

You can bring your medical equipment on board, free of charge, in addition to your small personal bag, subject to pre-clearance by our Special Assistance Team.

If you wish to carry or use a Special Medical item on board, you’ll need to contact us. They will determine if your request can be approved and provide authorisation to carry the item.

Duty-free

Your duty-free bag containing duty-free items is permitted in the cabin along with your cabin bags.

Drones, Quadcopters

  • These devices are not permitted in hold.
  • These devices are permitted in the cabin once within our cabin bag dimensions and if the lithium battery does not exceed 100 Wh.
  • Batteries exceeding 100 Wh for drones or quadcopters cannot be carried on board.

Parachutes / Paragliding Wings

  • A self-inflating life-jacket is accepted that contains 2 carbon dioxide cylinders (plus 2 spares) and can be included in either your cabin or checked baggage.
    Please note: Passengers traveling from Vienna International Airport must declare the life jackets at check-in.
  • An avalanche rescue pack with one nitrogen/air cylinder in either your cabin or checked baggage is permitted.
  • Parachutes of any type, recreational or sports, or paragliding wings (also known as 'canopy') can be accepted for carriage as checked-in or carry-on baggage, subject to the standard restrictions for size and weight.
  • These packs may contain an auxiliary or emergency 'chute' and a barometric mechanical activating (auto-release) device.
    The parachute pack must not contain pyrotechnics or smoke canisters, as these accessories may not be carried on the aircraft.

Electronic Devices and Spare Lithium Batteries (Cabin Only)

Permitted Electronic Devices

You may carry up to 15 personal electronic devices for personal use in the cabin, including but not limited to: smartphones, tablets, laptops, cameras, handheld gaming consoles, headphones.


Spare Lithium Batteries and Power Banks

You may carry up to 20 spare lithium batteries in total, each not exceeding 100Wh.
Power banks are limited to a maximum of 2 per passenger and are included within the overall limit of 20 spare batteries

(e.g. 2 power banks + 18 spare lithium batteries).

Battery Protection Requirements

All spare lithium batteries must be individually protected by one of the following methods to prevent short circuits:
Placement in the original retail packaging, or
Insulating exposed terminals (e.g. with tape), or
Placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch.

Carriage Restrictions

Spare lithium batteries and power banks must be carried on the passenger’s person or in the underseat cabin bag stowed under the seat in front. Spare lithium batteries and power banks cannot be placed in cabin baggage stored in the overhead lockers.

Devices or batteries exceeding 100Wh are not permitted in either cabin or checked baggage.

Power banks and spare lithium batteries must:

Not be placed in cabin baggage stored in the overhead lockers;

Be carried on the passenger’s person or in the underseat cabin bag stowed under the seat in front;

Not exceed 100Wh under any circumstances.

Power banks must not be recharged at any time while onboard or during the flight (e.g., one power bank charging another).

Power banks may be used to charge personal electronic devices, except during taxi, take-off, and landing, or when instructed otherwise by the crew.

Smart Bags as Checked Luggage

Smart bags with non-removable batteries are not accepted in the hold.

For smart bags to be carried in the hold, the battery must be removed and:

  • The passenger must carry the battery in the cabin.
  • The battery must not exceed 100Wh.
  • The battery must be protected from damage.
  • Must not be stored in the overhead locker.
  • Must be placed in small cabin baggage and placed underneath the seat in front of you or on your person.

Smart Bags in the Cabin

Smart bags with non-removable batteries above 2.7Wh are not permitted onboard.

For smart bags to be carried in the cabin:

If the battery is removable:

  • It must be removed and placed in small cabin baggage underneath the seat in front of you or carried on your person.
  • The removed battery must not exceed 100Wh.

If the battery is non-removable:

  • It must not exceed 2.7Wh.
